From Fashioning Cultural Heritage to the Impact of the GenAI
The side event will explore the intersection of contemporary fashion and tradition, examining how cultural heritage is becoming an identity-shaping and inspiring force in 21st-century fashion. The programme will consist of a plenary talk (Contextualizing and Understanding the Relationship Between Fashion Magazines and GenAi) and a panel (Wearing the Past) on tradition and fashion at the International Conference on Transcultural Fashion/Costume Narratives – organized by the Hungarian Academy of Arts Institute of Art Theory and Methodology.
Internationally well-known experts will explore issues such as
- Copyright challenges of folklore-inspired fashion
- Matyó embroidery and contemporary fashion
- Croatian Maritime costumes as heritage
- How the 'Mediterranean collective identity' is reflected in dressing
The session will consist of 5 short presentations in English (5 x 15 min) and a 40-minute plenary lecture by a New York-based fashion historian, and archivist, Doris Domoszlai-Lantner, on the exciting topic of how fashion media is being rewritten by artificial intelligence.
The programme aims to create a dialogue between researchers, professionals, and the fashion enthusiast audiences.

Az esemény a kortárs divat és a hagyomány metszéspontjait vizsgálja, illetve azt, hogy miképp válik a kulturális örökség identitásformáló és inspiráló erővé a 21. századi divatban. A program a Transcultural Fashion/Costume Narratives című nemzetközi konferencia hagyomány és divat tematikájú paneléből és plenáris előadásából áll. A nemzetközileg is elismert szakemberek olyan kérdéseket járnak körbe, mint
- a folklór ihlette divat szerzői jogi kihívásai
- a matyó hímzés és a kortárs divat
- a horvát tengerészviselet örökséggé válása
- hogyan köti össze a diaszpórában élő csoportokat a közös múltban gyökerező rituális viselet és a textilek esztétikája
- miként jelenik meg a ’kollektív mediterrán identitás’ a viseletkultúrában
A szekció egy 40 perces plenáris előadást (Domoszlai-Lantner Doris divattörténész és archivista, USA) és 5 rövid angol előadást tartalmaz (5 x 15 perc). Célja, hogy párbeszédet teremtsen a kutatók, a gyakorlati szakemberek és a divatkedvelő közönség között.
